Arsenal (1) - Watford (0) 7.11.21

The Gunners tipped off this second phase of Football this season with a crucial win before the next International Break by beating Watford at Home❤️ To say I’m thrilled is an understatement… Unbeaten in 10 and I have seen nothing but passion, unity and commitment from this squad. I believe we have come a long way under Arteta and I think every player in this squad is loved by our fans. I would say in recent history there’s been players with huge egos, we would see fallouts and there would be arguments within the dressing room but I’m glad to see there’s been shift in that, progression has been made & a tone has been set… failure is not an option. Through these wins it’s been fun analysing these games, I can see an identity creeping in with this new group of players. Our new signings have been the game changer this season too; Tavares, Tomiyasu, White, Ramsdale & Ødegaard! Big praises go to them, I take a bow with hats off to Arteta for bringing them in. They all have been instrumental in our successes post-Brentford through to City earlier in the season.

At first I was sceptical of the acquisitions and I wasn’t happy with what I saw but that’s why I’m solely a fan and not a professional😅. Being underwhelmed by players who haven’t come in with Elite-Level experience only made me criticise the signings but obviously in football and scouting that comes with proper analysis and a deeper meaning behind the signings. After 10 games of seeing them play together it is evident why these players were brought in & they have taken us up a few levels. Obviously I don‘t want to get too carried away as there will be growing pains and teething problems along the way/ eventually but I have thoroughly enjoyed watching this new Arsenal in the last 2 months.

I have also been really impressed with the way the fans have stood strong in every game home & away, we’ve been the 12th man to get us over the line. Big shout out to the boys & girls in 🔴 and ⚪️

Going on to today’s win I would say it was definitely deserved, right from the first minute we seemed to be on the attack and we was denied a goal due to offside which was unlucky. Our Auba pen miss was so unfortunate too, I called it that he would go to the left as that seems to be his spot most of the time, I do think it’s time someone else gets a shot at pens after that one. It wasn’t the best day at the office for him but he will be back & I'm glad we have a break around the corner to give him some time to regather his shooting boots. Auba’s been great for us so far and I can’t forget that 🙌🏼.

Moving onto Smith Rowe! What more can I say about this guy, he’s been so epic this season. This really is a breakthrough year for him and he’s truly setting his mark on the league never-mind our team. He can’t stop scoring and assisting and it won’t be too long until people start to realise how crucial he is. I love how he’s always in the right place at the right time. His positional awareness is amazing, his 1-2 passing is on point and he has a great strike in him! I love his passion for the club and it makes me proud and happy to be an Arsenal fan to have a Hale End academy boy point to the badge each time he scores, it’s heartwarming.

Another notable mention goes to my guy Ainsley, I’ve always backed him, same way I do with Nketiah and all the other players who have come through the ranks. A MOTM performance today, I had no doubts when I saw his name on the team sheet, he really gathered the ball well and played great in the transition with great work rate too!

I am delighted with a win to top off a good Set of 10 games for Arsenal!

I also wanted to take a closer look at our shirt this past afternoon with the Poppy on the front, as always a classy gesture from the Premier League commemorating the fighters and fallen soldiers of those in The Great War within the early 20th Century. It is more than just an aesthetic and the trumpets to start off the game was beautiful. Here are some photos of the featured Poppy. Gone but never forgotten❤️
